"De château en château"
La balade commence au cœur de Flavin, village à 20 min de route du camping. Le parking est prévu sur la place de l'église qui date du 19ième siècle.

Au début comme vers la fin de la balade il faut traverser la D911 et c'est le seul bémol de cette promenade. Si la première traversée est plus au moins sécurisée (le passage est indiqué et nous nous trouvons toujours au sein du village), la deuxième est presque beaucoup trop dangereux. Pour les voitures venant de droite, c'est une grande descente et elle gèrent à peine leur vitesse. Les voitures venant de gauche se sont certainement dit qu'il fallait prendre de l'élan pour attaquer la côte. Cet inconvénient n'empêche pas la tranquillité et la beauté du reste de la ballade. Par contre, nous avons dû trop parler car nous n'avions vu qu'un château pour les 4 annoncés, celui de Viel-Vayssac... En parlant avec un monsieur travaillant sur le champs à côté, nous découvrons que c'est un domaine privé d'un propriétaire de Saint-Tropez. Il entretient très bien les lieux, cela se voit. Nous avons bien apprécié cette balade, pourquoi pas la faire en famille et lancer le défi: qui trouve les 4 châteaux ?

"From castle to castle"
Park your car in the heart of Flavin, a village at a 20 minutes' drive from the campsite, on the square in front of the 19th Century church.

The only thing I really did not like about this walk, is that we had to cross the D911 twice, in the beginning and at the nearly end of the walk. The first crossing is not really dangerous, however the second time is. The cars coming from your right are on their way down a steep hill and they do not seem to realize the speed they're gathering. The cars coming from the left seem to speed up to be able to climb the hill. This inconvient road crossing stands in stark contrast to the rest of the walk. My friend and I talked a lot and only noticed one castle, in Viel-Vayssac, in stead of the 4 we should have seen. We talked with a man who was working in the field next to the castle and he told us the owner of the castle lives in Saint Tropez. It is obvious that he keeps the castle in a perfect state. We very much liked this walk, and suggest to test it with your family and mount the "Finding Castels" challenge.

"De kastelentocht"

De tocht start in Flavin, op 20 minuten rijden van de camping. De auto parkeer je op het plein voor de 19e eeuwse kerk.

Ik haal meteen het minder leuke aspect van de wandeling aan om daarna alles goed te maken met het moois dat we hebben gezien: 2x de D911 oversteken is geen pretje! De eerste keer valt mee, maar naar het einde toe hebben we lange tijd op het ideale moment staan wachten. Er kwamen namelijk auto's van de rechterkant naar beneden gezoefd en de auto's van de linkerkant gaven wat gas bij om toch maar bergop te geraken. Brrr.

We zouden onderweg 4 kastelen moeten zien, maar kletskousen als we zijn, hebben we meer dan de helft niet eens opgemerkt. Het kasteel in Viel-Vayssac is ons wel opgevallen (misschien omdat het 't grootste is van allemaal?). We bewonderen het gebouw, het zwembad en de tuin. Alles is er goed onderhouden. We raken er ook aan de praat met een landbouwer die vlakbij aan het werk is. Hij vertelt ons dat de eigenaar in Saint-Tropez woont en bijzonder goed zorg draagt voor zijn eigendom. Dat is er aan te zien! Leuk uitstapje met de kinderen, vooral als je het aanbrengt als een kastelenjacht: wie vindt ze alle 4?
